Safe Families for Children
Safe Families for Children is a volunteer movement, made up of local Christian families and churches in our community, who desire to help families in crisis and keep kids out of the Foster Care system. We are volunteers, we do not get paid by the State, we receive training, and Calvary Murrieta supports and encourages families to take part in this practical outreach to those in need.
What We Do:
As individuals and families, we practice "biblical hospitality" by opening our homes to children, offering them a safe, temporary place while their struggling parent(s) cope with issues like illness, unemployment, homelessness, addiction, domestic violence or other crisis.
This ministry offers participation as people open their homes to care for children.
Showing Hospitality is Something We Can All Do
By extending hospitality to children in crisis, our homes become a "safe place" and we temporarily become their "safe family." Safe Families for Children returns the church to its historic role of caring for orphans and widows. Moms retain custody of their children. We are just assisting them for a short time.
The Psalmist wrote in 68:5 & 6 - "A father to the fatherless, a defender of widows, is God in his holy dwelling. God sets the lonely in families, he leads out the prisoners with singing; but the rebellious live in a sun-scorched land."
To be a "Safe Family" or to help others in need is something God calls all of us to do. The church is reemerging as a champion for families in need.
